Melanie's April Challenge

Spring...

These pretty yellow wildflowers are all over my backyard. Jeff has not been able to mow our back lawn for a while (because of his surgery), so everything is really long. It made for a fun texture behind the flowers. I also made sure the fence was there for a darker backdrop. Both pictures were taken on a completely overcast day in aperture mode.

grandma's April challenge

Spring...

This was the first shot of the day and we were trying to get both the snowy mountain and the beautiful tulips.

Ethan and I had a glorious morning at the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point where we both did our April challenge of Spring.  The day was totally overcast, we shot in aperture mode, and it was a very very fun photo shoot for me!  Love you Ethan!!

Grandma's March challenge

Love...

The challenge was "love" and I thought these two were showing such fun brotherly-sisterly love that I just had to get the camera out!  I love my grandkids!!

Melanie's March Challenge

March Challenge: Love

Thomas loves to have Daddy "fly" him around. I love the look on his face of pure joy.

Everyone wanted to play with Baby Richard. So, Jeff showed them how to fly their airplanes around him. He giggled and laughed when the planes "crashed" and otherwise loved watching them all fly around him. Family love!

Melanie's February Challenge

February Challenge: Water

I love this challenge! All these pictures come from our trip to Myrtle Beach in December. It was a chilly, overcast day... perfect for picture taking! Here are 5 of my favorites... sorry I had a hard time cutting it down!

I found myself mesmerized by the crashing waves. So relaxing and beautiful!

I kind of want to frame this one... I love the waves coming in and all the bright colors of the buildings. Then there is the ferris wheel and the bright blue sky!

Clouds, crashing waves and sand. The sun came out for this one.

And of course, have to have a couple of my cute little friends in the water.

Looking at these pictures again makes me want to go back to Myrtle Beach.... anyone want to come?

Melanie's January Challenge

January Challenge: Red

I'm finally getting this up! My computer was not working, but we got it fixed and I'm ready to post! Here are my 3 pictures for the red challenge...

I absolutely love these beautiful red berries! They are on a tree right outside my door and they looked amazing with the snow and icicles. (This was the one day we had snow this winter.)

My sweet Savannah with her red coat and cheeks!

I liked the way the red tomatoes stood out among the green lettuce and yellow bell pepper.

Grandma's February Challenge submission

I love how reflective water is.  It was a sunny day but the trees made great shade...the sun broke through to make the water look shiny and reflective.

Grandma's January challenge submission

We had to have the roof shoveled off at the cabin.  I loved his red shirt and the contrast it made with the snow.

I liked the sun shining on this worker.  If you look close you can see ice on his eyebrows

This picture tells the story of how much snow we have at the cabin.  I love the red ladder against the snow.

My January Challenge Submission

Here are the photos I am submitting for the January Challenge: Red

I was going to take pictures of my shoes, and I saw a golden light on the stairs, so I rushed to get the shots in the fleeting light. I really tried to keep the first shoe in focus and the other out.

I recently bought a deck of cards, and I thought it would be cool to fan them out, then flip one red card over. I wanted to have a pattern, then break it with the Ace of Diamonds.
Lastly, my neighbors have a fire hydrant/water spout in their backyard. I liked the worn red look of it, so I climbed atop my fence to take a picture.
